The Samagra Shiksha scheme is an integrated scheme for school education covering the entire gamut from pre-school to class XII. The scheme treats school education as a continuum and is in accordance with Sustainable Development Goal for Education (SDG-4). The scheme not only provides support for the implementation of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 but has also been aligned with the recommendations of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The scheme aims to ensure that all children have access to quality education with an equitable and inclusive classroom environment which should take care of their diverse background, multilingual needs, different academic abilities and make them active participants in the learning process. The scheme has been extended for a period of five years i.e., from 2021-22 to 2025-26.

The Goal SDG-4.1 states that “By 2030, ensure that all boys and girls complete free, equitable and quality primary and secondary education leading to relevant and effective learning outcomes".

Further the SDG 4.5 states that “By 2030, eliminate gender disparities in education and ensure equal access to all levels of Education and vocational training for the vulnerable, including persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples and children in vulnerable situations”

Vision:

To ensure that all children have access to quality education in an equitable and inclusive classroom environment which takes care of their diverse background, multilingual needs, different academic abilities and make them active participants in the learning process.

Objectives:

  • Implementing the recommendation of NEP 2020;
  • Supporting States & UTs in implementing RTE Act, 2009;
  • Focus on Early Childhood Care and Education;
  • Emphasis on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy;
  • Thrust on Holistic, Integrated, Inclusive and activity based Curriculum and Pedagogy;
  • Provision of quality education and enhancing learning outcomes of students;
  • Bridging Social and Gender Gaps in School Education;
  • Ensuring equity and inclusion at all levels of school education;
  • Strengthening and up-gradation of SCERTs/SIE and DIETs;
  • Ensuring safe, secure and conducive learning environment and minimum standards in schooling provisions;
  • Promoting vocationalisation of education

Coverage:

The scheme covers 1.16 million schools, over 156 million students and 5.7 million Teachers of Govt. and Aided schools (from pre-primary to senior secondary level) by involving all stakeholders of the school ecosystem i.e. teachers, teacher educators, students, parents, community, school management committees, SCERTs, DIETs, BITEs, Block resource Persons, Cluster resource persons, volunteers for providing quality, inclusive and equitable education.

Samagra Shiksha supports new pedagogical and curricular structure of school education (5+3+3+4):

3 years in Anganwadi/pre-school and 12 years in school

  • Preparatory Stage (3) : play, discovery, and activity-based and interactive classroom learning

  • Middle Stage (3) : experiential learning in the sciences, mathematics, arts, social sciences, and humanities

A PROGRAMME BY MINISTRY OF EDUCATION

Vidyanjali is a school volunteer programme and an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development of India to boost community and private sector participation in government schools, launched by Smriti Irani. Under the programme, volunteers, including NRIs, retired teachers, government officials, defence personnel, professionals will offer their services for co-scholastic activities for children from class I to VIII . It is the project launched under the aegis of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan by the Department of School Education and Literacy.

You.th for Unnati and Vikas with Al, 2022 (YUVAi) 

YUVAi 2022 is open for school students from classes 8th to 12'h across pan-India. 


PHASE I

 1. Teachers will be on-boarded for the program through self-nomination. 

2. Teachers will be oriented to provide an overview of the program and their roles and responsibilities. The session details will be shared in advance. 

3. Each nominated teacher will identify students from their respective schools and share their details (link). Additionally, students can self-register (link) 

4. Online orientation sessions will be conducted for registered students around core Al concepts by experts to facilitate understanding of the ideation process. 

5. Students will be encouraged to submit ideas (individually or in teams of 2) through a 120-second video explaining a proposed Al-enabled solution for any of the eight core themes. 

6. Top Al-based solutions from among the proposed ones will be evaluated by an independent committee of experts for the next phase. 


PHASE II 

1. Shortlisted students will attend online deep dive Al training 

2. Three days of face-to-face boot camp will be organized to provide adequate mentorship and guidance by Al For Youth coaches. 

3. After the mentorship camps, students will use this newly gained knowledge to develop Al-enabled innovations/projects on any of the eight core themes and submit final entries. 

4. Top projects will be shortlisted post evaluation by an expert jury. 


PHASE Ill 

1. Students will be provided with apprenticeship and guidance opportunities on IPR 

2. The most innovative Al-based solutions will be announced and invited to a national showcase and felicitation ceremony 

3. Students will.be awarded exclusive awards in the following categories: 

 Most inclusive project award

  Most futuristic project award 

 Most sustainable project award

Students of classes VIII to XII can participate and draw their ideas on AKAM through crayons/ pencil colours/ water colours/ acrylic colours on A4 size AKAM theme paper sheets to be provided by Department of Posts (DoP). The schools are requested to organize the competition at their own level and upload the 5 best entries of their school after evaluation at the following link:

Terms and Conditions

  1. Schools affiliated to CBSE, including Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas as well as schools affiliated to all State Boards can participate in the Campaign.
  2. Students belonging to Class VIII to Class XII can participate. 
  3. Students should draw their ideas on AKAM through crayons/ pencil colors/ water colors/ acrylic colors on art sheets (A4 Size, 200 GSM, White Color) to be provided by the Department of Posts (DOP) to schools.
  4. The Drawing sheet can be downloaded from here (sample design of Art Sheet): Drawing Sheet (PDF)
  5. DoP shall collect all the drawing sheets and preserve at Circle level upon completion of the competition.
  6. Department of School Education & Literacy shall send a formal communication to Chairman CBSE, Commissioners of KV & NV, and all the Chief Secretaries/ Principal Secretary (School Education), requesting them to direct the schools under their jurisdiction/ control to hold the Stamp Design Competition.
  7. CBSE/ KV/ NV/ State Governments shall issue instructions to all the Principals of schools regarding initial screening of entries to be done by the school authorities, in order to select a maximum of 05 entries per school.
  8. The Postal Nodal Officers in each District/ Division shall get in touch with the School Nodal Officers and arrange to supply the A4 size sheets for holding the Stamp Design Competition. Specific date or dates shall also be decided with mutual consultation with the school authorities for holding the Stamp Design Competition
  9. Schools affiliated to CBSE, including Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas as well as schools affiliated to all State Boards are to hold the Stamp Design Competition at the school level on any of the days during the 01 – 31st October 2022.
  10. Schools to conduct a screening of all the entries in order to shortlist a maximum of 05 designs on AKAM with the best ideas. These 05 designs on AKAM shall be scanned and uploaded on the MyGov Portal.
  11. Ministry of Culture and Department of School Education & Literacy would identify and nominate experts for each State to facilitate the evaluation process of the entries uploaded on the MyGov portal. 05 best entries will be finalized from each state & UTs.
  12. National-level evaluation would be done jointly by a committee nominated by the Ministry of Culture and the Department of Posts.
  13. Department of Posts, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Culture will use their official social media handles to give wide publicity to the entire campaign.
